Work In Other Practices

Moses Mabhida Station, Durban, 2010 (Arup Interchange Design)

In 2009 I was employed by Arup Interchange Design as Project Leader for the detail design and delivery of the Moses Mabhida Station. The brief to me that I had to deliver and Award winning project. The team was behind on delivery of documents to site and were demoralised. This in turn was frustrating the Design Team and the Project Manager. I needed to find a way to enthuse the team and get them all going again. Every Monday morning I had a list of tasks prepared for each person. We would sit as a team and go through each item Obviously I was also available to the rest of my team at all times. It was hectic in the beginning but soon progress was made and then we were flying.

It was wonderful to sit in a meeting and have our efforts appreciated.

After many tense moments and some good moments, we managed to finish in time for the 2010 World Cup Soccer.
The building won a 2011 KZNIA Award of Merit and it won the Architectural Section of the 2011 Steel Awards.
