Conversion of a hostel to offices for the Western Cape Government - #Heritage, #Offices

Shared Services Building - Western Cape Government 

Elaine Lamb Architects was appointed by the Western Cape Government in 2015 to convert an existing hostel, Summer Heights, into offices. Challenges included mechanical and electrical services, as well as navigating the irregular structure. Using 3D modeling, the team found innovative solutions to avoid coring through beams while overcoming structural limitations.

The setting out also required precision and everything just fitted in!
We managed to incorporate a green roof.  Sitting in the office looking out at the view across the green roof is delightful and keeps the occupants in touch with nature.It was rewarding hearing the positive feedback from the staff once they had moved in.
